Castletownbere Tidy Towns are a voluntary group, who work hard to keep Castletownbere tidy and an attractive place to live in.
Recently young people in the Transition Year with their teacher Ms. O'Dwyer from Castletownbere Community School (in conjunction with Castletownbere Tidy Towns committee) undertook to translate the article below into most of the languages that are spoken in the Castletownbere area today. (The amazing result can be seen online here). This is the text of the english version:
The tidy towns committee are very concerned about the amount of dumping of litter and rubbish in and around the town.
Street bins are not for household rubbish, if you are renting a house or an apartment and do not have a bin collection please ask your landlord to supply same. Cork County Council offers a very good service numbers are below .
We also have an excellent Recycling centre on the Eyeries road contact details enclosed. All items may be recycled here entry only 3 euros – this compares favourably with a dumping fine of €500. If you would like to help us we meet at 7pm every Thursday at the Square or if you wish to arrange your own clean up we will arrange to collect it.
Remember it's our litter and our Responsibility. A clean safe environment is good for us all
